Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 9, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how the CashOut app (“CashOut”, “the app”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) handles information when you use it. CashOut is operated by Lewis Design, LLC.
We built CashOut to help people cut back on or quit betting. Because of that, the app may hold some of the most sensitive information a person can have about themselves. We treat that responsibility seriously, and we designed the app to collect as little as possible and to keep what you enter on your own device.
If you have any questions, contact us at quitwithcashout@gmail.com.
The short version
No account. No login. We never ask for your name, email, or phone number.
Everything you type into CashOut — your profile, your check-ins, your streak, the apps you choose to block — is stored only on your device, not on our servers. We don’t have servers that hold your personal data, because we don’t run a backend at all.
We use two outside services — PostHog for anonymous usage analytics and RevenueCat for managing subscriptions — and they receive only the limited, non-identifying information described below.
We do not sell your data, show you ads, or track you across other apps or websites.
You can erase everything CashOut stores about you at any time by deleting the app.
1. What CashOut is
CashOut is a self-help tool for reducing or quitting betting. It lets you set a quit date, track a bet-free streak, see an estimate of money saved, and block sportsbook and gambling apps on your phone using Apple’s built-in Screen Time controls. It is not a gambling app, it does not let you place bets, and it is not a substitute for professional treatment. (See our Terms of Service for more on that.)
2. Information you put into the app
When you set up and use CashOut, you may enter information such as:
Your previous betting spend, how often you bet, and which sportsbooks and sports you used
Your quit date and recovery milestones (streaks, achievements)
Daily check-ins (for example, whether you bet on a given day), and — if and when journaling features are added — your own notes, urges, and triggers
The set of apps, websites, or categories you choose to block
All of this is stored locally on your device using Apple’s on-device storage (SwiftData and your device’s app preferences). It is not uploaded to us, and we have no way to read it. We do not operate a server that receives this information.
This on-device data is included in your normal device backups (iCloud Backup, or a computer backup via Finder/iTunes), under whatever protection you’ve set for those backups. We recommend using an encrypted backup. We do not have access to your backups.
3. Information collected automatically
To understand how the app is used and to fix problems, CashOut uses PostHog, a product-analytics service. PostHog receives:
Anonymous usage events — for example, that an onboarding step or screen was viewed, and basic app lifecycle events (app opened, app backgrounded). Screen names are deliberately generic (e.g. “Onboarding: Spend”) and never include the values you typed, your notes, your spend amounts, or any recovery details.
An anonymous, per-installation identifier that lets us count unique installs and measure things like drop-off. This identifier is not linked to your name, email, or Apple ID, because we never collect those.
We have deliberately turned off the features of this service that could be invasive: session replay is disabled (the app never records your screen), and automatic screen-capture of internal view names is disabled. Analytics events pass through a filter that strips out any field not explicitly approved, so your personal and financial details cannot leak into analytics.
We do not use Apple’s advertising identifier (IDFA), we do not ask to track you across other companies’ apps or websites, and we do not share data with data brokers. The app’s privacy settings declare “no tracking.”
4. Purchases and subscriptions
CashOut offers paid subscriptions. Subscriptions and purchases are handled by Apple (through the App Store and StoreKit) and managed for us by RevenueCat. When you subscribe, start a free trial, or restore a purchase:
Apple processes the payment. We never see or store your credit-card number or full payment details.
RevenueCat receives purchase and subscription information (such as which product you bought, your trial and renewal status, and an app-generated subscriber identifier) so the app can unlock paid features and restore them on your devices.
This lets the app know whether you have an active subscription. It is not tied to a personal account, because CashOut does not have accounts.
5. How your information is used
We use the limited information described above only to:
Provide the app’s features (such as unlocking paid features for subscribers)
Understand how the app is used in aggregate, find drop-off points, and improve it
Diagnose crashes and fix bugs
Comply with legal obligations
We do not use your information to advertise to you, to build a marketing profile, or to sell to anyone.
6. Who we share information with
We do not sell or rent your information. The only parties that receive any data are the service providers that make the app work, listed below, plus anyone we’re legally required to disclose to (for example, in response to a valid legal request).
We do not sell or rent your information. The only parties that receive any data are the service providers that make the app work, listed below, plus anyone we're legally required to disclose to (for example, in response to a valid legal request).
Apple (App Store / StoreKit) — receives payment and purchase information, to process subscriptions and payments. Privacy policy: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
RevenueCat — receives purchase/subscription data and an app-generated subscriber identifier, to manage and restore subscriptions. Privacy policy: https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy/
PostHog — receives anonymous usage events and an anonymous per-install identifier, for product analytics to improve the app. Privacy policy: https://posthog.com/privacy
CashOut's blocking feature is built on Apple's Screen Time / Family Controls framework. By Apple's design, the app handles only anonymous tokens and never learns the real identities of the apps you block — that information stays within Apple's system on your device and is not sent to us.
7. How long we keep your information
Data on your device stays until you delete it in the app or delete the app itself. Deleting CashOut removes the locally stored profile, check-ins, streak, and blocking selections from your device.
Anonymous analytics held by PostHog is retained according to our analytics configuration and PostHog’s retention policies; because it is anonymous and not linked to you, it generally cannot be traced back to a specific person.
Subscription records held by Apple and RevenueCat are retained per their policies and as needed for billing, tax, and fraud-prevention purposes.
8. Your choices and rights
Because CashOut stores your personal content only on your device and collects no identifying information, you are in direct control of your data:
Access / export: the information you entered is visible to you inside the app.
Delete: clear your data in the app, or delete the app, to erase your on-device information.
Analytics: you can limit analytics at the OS level (for example, iOS “Allow Apps to Request to Track” is already respected — we don’t request tracking) and through your device’s privacy settings.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the EU/UK GDPR or the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) — including the right to access, correct, delete, or port your data, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell or “share” personal information as those laws define it. To make a request or ask a question, email quitwithcashout@gmail.com. (Note that because we don’t collect identifying information, we may be unable to associate an anonymous analytics record with a specific person.)
9. Children’s privacy
CashOut is intended for adults and is not directed to children. You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live) to use it. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has used the app, contact us and we will help.
10. International users
We may process the limited data described here in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. Data-protection laws in those countries may differ from those where you live. By using CashOut, you understand that your information may be processed in those locations, subject to the protections described in this policy and our providers’ own safeguards.
11. Security
We design the app to minimize risk: there is no central server holding your personal data, no login to be stolen, and the most sensitive information never leaves your device. On-device data is protected by your device’s built-in encryption and app sandbox. No method of storage or transmission is ever 100% secure, but we keep our data footprint deliberately small to limit exposure.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll change the “Last updated” date above, and for significant changes we’ll provide a more prominent notice in the app or on this page. Your continued use of CashOut after an update means you accept the revised policy.
